Qi Baishi Chinese Painting Print – Ink Wash Shrimp

More shrimp, because one Qi Baishi shrimp print is never enough: this ink-wash version gives the famous crustaceans the master's full translucency treatment — layered washes for bodies, single strokes for whiskers, paper for water. Qi Baishi's shrimp variations are the icon's great series — the same subject, never the same water — and this version has the series' full freshness: the washes' lightness, the school's rhythm. It is the icon, again, and still fresh, the pond's return.

The handling differs from its sibling: the washes a touch lighter here — the bodies' greater transparency, the ink's delicacy — the school arranged with different rhythm, the composition's variation, the master's hand finding new life in the familiar subject. Qi Baishi painted shrimp for decades; each version is a different day's water, the pond's diary. The vitality never fades, the life's constancy.

Iconic shrimp suit kitchens, dining rooms, collectors' walls — the icon's homes. The print comes as the unmounted huaxin core only, with no frame or mounting, so simple framing lets them swim. A fresh take on the icon.
